Baybayin 101 Agno River

Executive Summary:

The Baybayin101 Agno River formally started on the 7th of June 2021 with 19 registered professional Teachers and 7 students-teacher/SHS serves as observer. With all the session cited in the application it was fully performed and accomplished. Each session has allotted 2 hours but most often it exceeded because participants were actively participating in the discussion and sharing their insights and some readings on the topic presented. The groupworks—done using the breakout room technology provided by the ZOOM app—made it livelier and engaging for them. They were able to share and discuss their ideas about various topics from understanding the concepts of archaeological artifacts to transliteration and translation of Baybayin inscriptions and how this plays a role in their deeper understanding of our culture and heritage as Filipinos. The said ZOOM breakouts and activities made it possible for all the participants to work as a group and as a team. Following the lecture was a workshop called SULAWIKAIN—a portmanteau of sulat and wikain—a learning environment which provided the learners with "real life" opportunities to implement the theoretical knowledge from the lecture. Assessments followed towards the end of every lecture and workshop.

The highlight of the program was the final paper presentation which was held on the last day. In the said final presentation, participants produced projects to display their understanding of the importance of learning Baybayin in the various aspects of our cultural heritage.

Indeed, this program enabled our teachers to widen their knowledge on the rich history of our culture and understand their role as teachers in helping their students gain better cultural clarity especially during the rapid spread and threat of social media and globalization to the understanding of our Filipino culture.

Attached on the proceedings are also the works of our participants.
